Peskov: Kremlin hopes to stop fall of Russians’ income within year

MOSCOW, Apr 30 (PRIME) -- The Kremlin hopes to stop the fall of Russians’ income within a year, and believes that the trend has already been minimized as compared with the other states, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

“We can see similar situations in the entire world, all states are encountering the consequences of the pandemic crisis, the consequences linked to the crisis phenomena in the economy. Of course, we cannot be free of these negative dynamics, unfortunately,” he said.

“In many states the situation is even worse. And we hope to stop the decline within a year.”

The Federal State Statistics Service said on Thursday that Russians’ real disposable income fell by 3.6% on the year in January–March after sliding 0.9% in October–December 2020.

Peskov also said that the government’s steps help to cushion the consequences of the economic crisis.
